Orchards Baptist Church had the privilege of hosting two mission teams when we were adding a room to our building.   One team of men came from Tennessee and helped us for a week by installing insulation and new siding to the outside of the building.  The second mission team of men and women from Colorado came and hung the sheet rock on the inside of the new room.   We found that hosting them was a privilege and a blessing to us.  Their help was invaluable to us since we could not afford to hire the work done.  After we completed our building, we thought and prayed about it and decided that we also wanted to help other churches and friends in need.  So we have been going on mission trips or doing local missions since.   Praise the Lord!

In 2001 we went to Burbank, Wash. and helped the church with their building project.   They had several projects going.  We were able to hang some dry wall, build a nursery room, and learn how to tape and mud.   We learned a lot that first year!

In 2002 we went to Stites, Idaho and helped the church by installing Tyvek on the outside of the building, building a foundation wall, wiring work, and sanding the floor.

In 2003 we went to Spokane, Wash. and helped a large church with their building project.   That year we were able to install insulation, drywall and to build a fire wall in the attic area.

In 2004 we went to Craigmont, Id. and helped the church with a painting project.   They needed the exterior of their building painted so we spent the week helping them.

In 2005, we went to Walla Walla, Wash. and helped the church install the concrete siding and build an arch way entrance.  That was another learning experience.

That same year, we helped a sister church here in the valley by installing a new metal roof on their building.

In 2006, we stayed here in the valley and worked for several church members.   Three different teams accomplished: building a handicap ramp; roofing a shed and roofing a garage; and painting the home and garage of a member in need.

We also were able to help two senior adult ladies by removing trees from their property.

In 2007 we again chose to work here in the valley.   This year we were able to have three teams.   One team worked hard and installed a steeple on a sister church – SonRise Baptist Church.  Another team was kept busy by roofing an addition and roofing a new deck of two different members.  Team members were also able to help a family with a basement remodel job, building walls, hanging sheet rock, etc.

This year we sent our first team to New Orleans to help with the NOAH (New Orleans Area Hope) rebuild project.

In 2008 we put together another local team a helped a family by installing a metal roof for them, to replace the leaking roof that they had.

For the second year, Orchards Baptist church sent another team of willing workers to the NOAH project in New Orleans.

In March of 2009, another team traved to New Orleans to help with the NOAH project once again.   Although you don’t hear too much about New Orleans on the news, much of that city has not been rebuilt and they are desperate for help.
